These are the most important things to Allison; her cats Stewart and Chubby, her dog Bella, her deceased dog Penny, her collection of Disney VHS’s, and her Netflix subscription. Everything else is white noise. When Allison isn’t surrounded by piles of cuddly animals, she studies international relations at a small liberal arts college in upstate New York. She enjoys traveling to new places, sleeping anywhere she can, and avoiding strangers at parties.

Susan McLean is studying journalism, communications, and writing. She enjoys cats and walking barefoot in tall grass. In her spare time she reads as much as she can. She also dabbles in the visual arts, focusing on painting and drawing. She has been writing since she was a kid and has been focusing on poetry and creative nonfiction lately. She frequents local punk shows and enjoys the underground music scene. She also takes pride in the fact that she can fit 17 cookies in her mouth at a time.
Taimoor Qazi graduated with an English degree from Hartwick College, and currently works as a Social Media & Marketing Director. He embodies the spirit of joie de vivre- cooking, eating, drinking, and filling rooms with his laughter. A practicing Wiccan and reveler in all things spiritual, he will happily lay out a Tarot spread for you or send you your horoscope for the week. He has a deep appreciation for art, and in his spare time will most likely write a poem, create an illustration, or imagine a new tattoo design for himself. Tai believes that every day should begin with coffee and end with a glass of rosé.
Erica Chesworth is a student from Yorkshire, UK. She is studying media, film, photography and sociology and hopes to become a journalist in the future. She has been writing for years (it started off as short stories in colourful notebooks as a child) and hopes to have lots of opportunities to discuss things that interest her while writing for Bruised Knuckles. She loves photography, going to gigs, petting cats and is passionate about intersectional feminism. She likes lots of indie bands, especially badass girl bands. In the future she’d love to travel lots and visit as many places as possible.
Ella Rausch graduated with a degree in English and Environmental Studies from the University of Wisconsin – Madison. She’s always down to eat, hike, or play a round of Scrabble and kind of has a thing for Eagle Scouts. Ella’s dream is to build her own Tiny House and live off the land Thoreau-style (with a 21st century twist: internet). Her relationship status? It’s complicated with the National Park Service.
Conner’s the name and photography is the game. She's an open-minded lady who loves taking pictures, but hates being in them. Her primary passion is working to make this world a more equal and loving place than it is now. She attempts to do this by capturing the beauty in what she sees- nature or a work of art on the street but mostly she finds beauty in people. She loves spending time outdoors backpacking, hiking, swimming, running, photography and making failed attempts at doing cartwheels in the park. She also spend a large amount of time indoors watching movies, knitting, embroidering, writing, drawing, reading, (of course) photography, and wasting time doing nothing in my bed. Most off all she loves to try new things. Her heart is one of an activist. Ever since she was a kid, she couldn’t understand why people were so negative towards other races, ethnicities, genders, etc. Her lifelong goal has been to make it so no matter who you are, you won’t be judged for being yourself.
A Connecticut native Julia Bonadies is a passionate English student focusing on secondary education and creative writing. She is a child wrangler by day and poetess by night. Her affinity for cats, red lips, denim, Twin Peaks, and laughing run deep. She is constantly consuming words, and is continually inspired by the teachers who have served in some shape or form as surrogate poetry parents. Her goal in life is to become a better writer than she was yesterday while simultaneously passing on all that she learns to anyone who is willing to take it.
Ehlayna Napolitano just moved to Providence, Rhode Island, continuing a lifelong quest to find the best slice of pizza in every city. She can typically be found shouting, “Look at that dog!” from car windows. She has worked as a reporter, editor and social media manager. Voted most likely to start laughing before she knows the joke.
Maddie Paz is your typical coffee snob and passionate activist. She is a student in Upstate New York studying everything she can get her hands on. With two majors in studio art and psychology and a minor in art history, she spends the majority of her time elbow deep in either clay, paint or books. She is always on the hunt for the best indie bands, horror movies, adventure novels and burritos.
Madison Forsander is studying English and Secondary Education, planning to pursue Graduate Programs. She enjoys spending her free time at the beach, reading (preferably together), eating, traveling, making bad puns, and listening to rap. She enjoys attending rap concerts and her favorite artists include Drake, G-Eazy, and Mac Miller. In the past Madison has been a very traditional writer, focusing on critical analyses of literature, but she looks forward to new writing opportunities with Bruised Knuckles! Madison also knows 87% of the words to every Drake song released since 2008.

Originally from Connecticut, Aubrey is now on the northshore of Massachusetts drinking coffee and pursuing her BFA in sculpture at Montserrat College of Art. In her studio work is currently interested in themes of conceptual and physical boundaries as well as current events, resulting in large scale weavings and jewellery items, as well as dimensional paper works. Recent group exhibitions include the Boston Sculptors Gallery, Artrageous 2016, and the Schlosberg Gallery. In her spare time, Aubrey is part of a dynamic LLC duo developing a website for critiquing artwork and connecting like minded artists and aficionados.
Where do we begin with this one? She is a gem I assure you! Jordan Burnett is an over thinking, book loving, madd man (she is a woman but sometimes talks about her balls. Do you have a problem?) who is ready to take the world by storm. She graduated Hartwick College in 2015 with a Political Science degree and upon graduating went to live at a Zen Buddhist Monastery for a year. She currently resides in Brooklyn, NY where she begrudgingly welcomes her new neighbor, gentrification. She is passionate about examining racism in the United States, intersectional feminism, LGBTQ+ issues, and figuring out how to make the United States a place where we actually recognize that all people are created equal and independent, that from that equal creation they derive rights inherent and inalienable, among which are the preservation of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. If you couldn’t tell she’s too patriotic for her own good.
Jack Williams is a musician, photographer and experimental filmmaker from Burrillville, Rhode Island, pursuing a career in music journalism, focusing on photography. He has been shooting seriously for about 2 years, but has plans to make it his career. Jack has worked on countless musical and visual projects, including the launch of his label, Harrow Recordings, in the spring of 2015, and the release of his debut, collaborative duo sheltered. When he is not shooting or making music, he is either enjoying the company of friends, or going to shows. Jack has strong belief in the DIY music scene, and it’s his goal to shine just enough light on the bands and community as a whole, while still keeping the scene safe and accepting.
Austin Fimmano is an English major and certified nerd located in and around New York City. She loves theater, art, dogs, and books, and is especially happy when she finds a beautiful combination of some or all of the above. On a rainy day she can be found in a museum, and almost any night of the week she can be found scoping out an Off-Off Broadway show. She hopes to be able to spread love and wisdom in the world through her writing.
A northern New Jersey native, Sarah is a 17 year-old writer and photographer. She enjoys dogs and long rants about feminism. She's a die-hard mental health advocate, intersectional feminist, and vegetarian. You can usually find her exploring a abandoned building or urban neighborhood, watching horror flicks, or playing with makeup. She tends to act more punk than she actually is to make up for her size (5ft and probably not growing).
Ally is a 17 year old poet, painter, and musician born and raised in Washington, D.C. In 2016, she self-published her debut book of poems, Things I Keep Under My Bed. In her free time, Ally enjoys reading, meditating, and delineating astrological charts. She also sings, writes lyrics, and plays guitar in her band Moon Puppets. Ally is a proud INFP and Libra.
Shannon was born and raised in Illinois about 45 minutes out of Chicago. She grew up in a family of seven children, being the youngest. She is 17 years old and she spends most of her time either sitting in her high school auditorium going over lines or sitting in a dark computer lab editing the center spread of her school newspaper. After graduation Shannon intends to go to a local junior college to get her general classes out of the way before going to a university to finish her education. She loves to spend any free time she has taking pictures of practically everything. She'll also spend extra time writing about anything. The weather, her emotions, anything that she thinks is interesting (which is a lot). She loves going to see her favorite alternative bands in concert and loves the whole atmosphere of a concert with everyone beautifully singing off key all together.
Robin Morris is studying communication and writing at Eastern Connecticut State University. When people ask her what she wants to be when she grows up, she usually lies and says “a writer” but her dream has always been to become Nancy Drew, the amateur detective. She enjoys reading mystery novels and writing funny things. Sometimes she writes serious things but doesn’t like it as much. She would really like to go to Iceland or Italy sometime soon but can’t seem to get more than two days in row off from work. But she isn’t bitter or anything.
When not stressing about finding time to read every book on her “To Read List,” you can find Lauren Smouse hunting for her latest thrift store treasure or rereading To Kill a Mockingbird for the hundredth time. A lover of fresh flowers, red wine, dogs, and new places, Lauren believes anything can be accomplished with a bit of mascara and a little coffee (okay, a lot of coffee!)
