Kurt Vile and the Violators preformed Pearl St. Nightclub in Northampton, MA on February 18th with a guest appearance from J Mascis. The tour started the previous night, February 17th in New Haven and continues through August with stops across the U.S., Canada, and Europe, including Bonnaroo and Sasquatch festivals. Mascis will likely not join Vile for the rest of the tour, and a fair amount of dates are already sold out, including Montreal, Baltimore, and Atlanta. Vile started his set with ‘Dust Bunnies,’ ‘I’m an Outlaw,’ and ‘Pretty Pimpin.’ He went on to play more recent tracks and closed his set with ‘Dead Alive,’ ‘Hunchback,’ ‘Freak Train,’ and ‘Wild Imagination.’ Finally, after thunderous applause, Vile played ‘Baby’s Arms’ and ‘Peeping Tomboy’ as an encore. J Mascis, of Dinosaur Jr. lives in Amherst, MA, close to Northampton, but hasn’t released anything new since his latest album, ‘Tied to a Star’ in August 2014. Mascis has repeatedly made lists of All Time Top 100 Guitarists. Mascis has toured with Vile in the past and most recently appeared with Vile on Colbert in December to play Vile’s ‘Pretty Pimpin.’
