Connecticut-based Landing released their newest album, ‘Third Sight,’ this past June. This album follows a slew of previous releases featuring cool experimental vibes, as well as more traditional releases. Frontman Aaron Snow spoke about the band’s record label, El Paraiso, an upcoming LP, and the pressing process.
“El Paraiso contacted us last year about doing something for their Impetus Series, which is a series based on improvisational music. Improvisation is a big part of what we do, so we got straight to work. Initial sessions were built upon, layered, and edited and eventually turned into the four songs on the record!"
Landing will be releasing an LP this fall; ‘Complekt.’ This LP will offer a different sound than the hazy shoegaze based feel that ‘Third Sight’ has.
“‘Complekt’ represents a lot more sides to what we do. There's some drone fuzz rock, some weird synth tryyps, some shoegazey stuff, etc. ‘Third Sight’ is more loose and improvisational whereas ‘Complekt,’ although it has moments that'd fit on ‘Third Sight,’ is more varied and representative of Landing, I think.”
‘Third Sight’ is an incredibly mellow departure, which focuses on an experimental sound, without feeling out of place. The album feels new, yet familiar, which is something Landing does incredibly well. ‘Third Sight’ bridges the weirdness between experimentation and tradition in a cohesive product that is exceedingly easy to listen to.
