One of Anna and my good friends from college, Lauren, is currently studying abroad in Paris until the end of January! If you’re interested in reading about all of her adventures, and seeing all of her amazing pictures, check out her blog “Well Behaved Hair and Other Things." Lauren’s “About Me” page on her blog says; “Hello, my name is Lauren and welcome to ‘Well Behaved Hair and Other Things.’ Before I say anything else, I should inform you that I do NOT have well-behaved hair. This 20 year old has never nor will ever have such hair. But fear not! I have plenty of other things to write about. I have always had a love of traveling and experiencing different cultures -- hence my double major in French and Political Science at Hartwick College. It is very easy to tell that Lauren is right at home in the City of Lights. Check out Lauren’s blog if you are interested in studying in Paris, seeing pictures of Paris, or even just reading about the experience of an American studying in the beautiful city! Note: Photo from Lauren's blog. Go check out her posts for more, and please don't sue us.

It is similar to Instagram, where you share pictures you’ve taken on your profile, and can see trending images, except you do not caption or comment on the pictures. They are mostly meant for aesthetic pleasure.
My first impression of using the app was slightly confusing, as there were a lot of symbols I needed to click on to upload pictures that I was not accustomed to yet. However, after playing around with the app for only ten or fifteen minutes, I quickly discovered how to edit the pictures, follow other accounts (only my cousin for now), and view others images through the the “trending” feature. I have not had my profile for long, but I am very excited to take more pictures and upload them to the site. If you are interested in VSCO, I suggest checking it out (either online or through the app, which I believe is available for Android users as well as iPhone users with iOS 8). You can also follow me to see what I’ve been up to. Polyvore is a social media site with a twist. It's completely fashion/art centered where users create 'sets' or 'collections' with photos and items. These items are imported automatically from almost all online stores, and if the items you want to use aren't already there, you can import them on your own, easily. I've been a member for over 7 years, so I have been along for the ride. Polyvore launched in February 2007 and though many changes, making everything more community based, more streamlined, more user friendly; the basic premise has always been the same- create and share.
Now, Polyvore boasts cool features including the ability to add music to your sets, text generators, and even contests. I have loved this website for a long time and love to spread the word. The simple drag and drop interface is both easy to use and very gratifying. You can find my Polyvore profile here, and Allison's here. I highly recommend this site to anyone interested in art, fashion, home decor, or creative expression. |
